The Explorer 2 has to be one of the best metal detectors on the market. Depth, functions and options are second to none.
However, this detector is not for everyone. First off, unless you are planning on spending a lot of time detecting, the $1200 pricetag would be more than I would suggest a novice to shell out. Secondly, there is an extreme learning curve that goes along with this machine. You must have a lot of patience, because all of the noises will drive you insane!
It is a little bit bottom heavy as well. Your arm will get very tired after a long day of hunting, but there is an optional sling that you can buy to make this problem go away.
To reiterate, this detector is one of the best you can get, but it is not for everyone. Minelab does have a few ‘lesser’ products that still outperform most other brands on the market. Happy Hunting!
